&lt;p&gt;The &#039;cross-browser&#039; solution is to use something like a blue gif 2px by 2px and then create a line by &lt;img src=&quot;blue.gif&quot; width=&quot;600&quot; height=&quot;2&quot; /&gt; ... or that sort of thing.&lt;/p&gt;
