the ICON line is simply to refer to the ico file that you want used as a program icon. Otherwise you get a generic one. This is not related to autorun at all.

Yes everything is working. I can go to the index and start there and view the whole site. It is just the autorun that isn't working. Like I had told someone earlier who posted to my problem, all of my other CD's (Windows 98, printer CD and all of my daughters CD games) autorun just fine.

What is the ICON=ggicon.ico file that you have? Is that a necessary part?

I also used the data CD in Adeptec to create my CD.

I'll keep trying.

hmmm.

Is the CD working other than the autorun aspect? ie, can you browse for the index and start navigating the site?

If so, your problem lies with either the inf file or your autorun capability.

I created using data cd (direct is for copying I believe)

My file paths are all relative, no different than if I was FTPing this thing to a server.

The following is the exact content of my autorun.inf:

[AutoRun]
ICON=ggicon.ico
OPEN=start index.html

I will be doing a more complete burn shortly, with PDF files and powerpoint presentations included. I'll let you know if my results vary.

Good luck!

I must be loosing it. I thought I posted a reply but I guess I hit the back button instead of submit.

Thanks Taff for the info. I tried your suggestion but I still can't get the CD to auto run. Isn't it supossed to come on by itself when you put it in the CD ROM? When I create the CD, all the html files, autorun.inf and images are on the CD so I am pretty sure I am creating the CD correctly.

When you do your CD in the Adaptec are you making the CD in Data CD or Direct CD?

Oh well, my daughter has another CD frisby to play with.

Would you give me instructions on how you did your file paths and any other info that may help me figure this out. I don't know what I am doing wrong. If you have a link on how to do this that would be great also.

thanks,

I'm in the same boat and have been doing some research.

Quote: Originally posted by dukk
You can make a autorun file, I've done it and it works fine just make a file called autorun.ini and burn it on the cd's root all you need to put in it is this:

[autorun]

OPEN=index.html

To the best of my knowledge, this only works for executables. For HTML, adapt as follows:

[autorun]

OPEN=start index.html

save it as autorun.inf (not ini)

I just tried it and it works like a charm. Now, if I can only figure out how to do this on a Mac...

by the way, I'm using Adaptec as well.

Boy this is getting more complicated by the day. Yes my other CD's auto run. My daughters CD games auto run too so I suppose that it is turned on.

I looked at the Tweek UI and that looks a bit scairy for me to tackle. I will have to read it in more detail before I'll know if I want to do that. I am really afraid that I will mess something up. As for the REGISTRY....EEEKKKK!!!!! I won't even go there...haha!!

Last night I got some error message about a shell.exec(think that is what it was called) file while attempting to do another CD. I wonder if that has anything to do with what the Tweek UI will fix?

I am about ready to give up on this little venture. Thanks for trying to help me though. If you run across something later that is a little more simple will you let me know?

If it is turned off, you can just turn it back on, go get a copy of Tweak UI off os Microsoft.com its easyer than searching the registry for the key. but eather way would work.
I then opened my Adaptec CD burner and clicked "create data cd". Then moved all files for the web site, including the autorun.ini and created the cd.

It still won't auto run.

Do you have autorun turned on?

Do your normal installation CDs autorun? Like MS Office and like products? If autorun's turned off, there's nothing you can do.
