Another idea would be to volunteer at a school. When I meet my daughter's third grade teacher this month, I will offer her my services as the "class web programmer". I plan to maintain a small site with a secure area for class contact info (names, phones, emails) so kids can connect easily outside of class, I'll put up weekly practice tests for spelling and math, web links for current areas of study, etc. Her classmates will then be able to access all of this from home or school.

I've always felt bad that I don't do any volunteer stuff at school, but this will be great in that I can do it at 2 am or from work, whenever.

probably not exactly what you're looking for, but maybe you want to try http://www.elance.com/. some kind of jobs-marketplace for e-projects.

or just ask some smaller np-organizations in your neighborhood? to start it's probably better, to have some face-to-face-contact.
