Alright, that brown is just bad. It needs to go. What you could do is make the background more of a darker more neutral brown (less of a reddish tone) and the body area white maybe.

Is the text of the logo supposed to look lumpy like that? Also, the text under neath it - "leave what you know, take what you don't" is kind of ambiguous - doesn't totally explain what the site is about. The stock graphics you've used for the headings in the content area need to be improved. If you're going to do this, all 4 images should have the same look and feel - either photos or clip-art but not both, and clip-art should be drawn in the same style for each.

Quote: With the current prices for gasoline across the country, what kind of impact are we innkeepers going to feel?

What country? If your site is only covering inns in one country, you should make that apparent right away. From what I see though, this content should be relevant to innkeepers in any country so you just have to change the language a little bit.

Quote: Let's look at some different things we can do with our properties to keep thinks going!

things not thinks. I think your overall writing style could be improved - just a little less casual, more like a magazine writing style.

I'm looking around for a navigation bar but I don't seem to see one. The way you've got things set up - with articles coming up in a pop-up with links at the bottom to other articles, is going to be difficult to maintain in the long-run. You need to define a strict site architecture and create your site around that.

Anyway, this seems to be a really good idea for a site - I hope you can capitalize on its potential.

Overall I like the site, but i have to agree with webmistress you definetly need some sort of side bar navigation and the blabk writing on brown doesn't work...
Make the pop-ups look like the rest of the site. at the moment they don't 'fit' in...

Very nice. I like the top part.

I'm not sure of the colours yet, I keep looking at them and thinking hmmmmm............ nope still not sure.

On the first page I would have the Headings as links as you have done on the chat one.

I don't like the pop up windows! You have a horizontal scroll bar which makes it look awful and I just don't see why you don't just have it opening within the main page? That way you can make them look more interesting and add some graphics to them to liven them up. What about a picture of each dish in the recipe section???

Create a navigation system at the side instead of the moreover advert and use the site to it's full buy having each page open up properly in the same format.
On the forums page the black writing is very hard to read off the brown background, maybe white would be better?
