One word, "Harmony". That's what your site design needs. I wasn't keen on the colours scheme on the sidebars. I did like the Events bar and would like to see that colour used. The logo left me cold too.

I agree with Megan, you need to stick to two colours (light blue & mint green) & then stick to one font for the text. The page itself is going to look rather boring as it is, use the logo to give the site a unique identity and definately do something about the "get more out....." logo/banner thing, as it is it looks awful.

The Good

colour scheme - like the bright blue and mint green in the menus, but the other blues you've used with it aren't working so well. There seems to be about three different shades of blue other than the lighter one in the menu

The Bad

Logo - sorry to say that it just sucks. Logos do not get any more boring than this. Try a more unique font
Fonts - I think there are about 6 different fonts on here including the logo. You should really limit that. Also, two of those fonts (Times for "The Virtual COmmunity" and that rounded one for "Spotlight") are only used once, so that doesn'd lead to a very consistent look

I'm just gonig to stop there because I could probably go on and on if I looked hard enough. I'm sorry to say it but I think you need to hear this - this page is just not well designed. Other than the colour scheme there is no visual interest, there is little consistency in the layout between fonts and menu styles and colours... the elements just look like they were grabbed from a whole bunch of different designs and slapped together into one. Take that "events" header for example - could look good, but not when it's placed with the other things you've got here.
