Glad that it worked for you. Send no money. Just help out others with their own problems in the future.

By golly gosh!!! That did the trick. Thanks mairv!!

What the problem was is that under the connections tab the "never dial a connection" was checked so I changed it to "always dial my default connection". DUH!! Why I didn't see that I'll never know.

BTW...I am using Windows 98 with IE 5.0.

Thanks for helping me to get my little "e" to work again. Now where do I send your money? LOL

Okay the little "e" is a shortcut to your Internet Explorer browser. This is tied into Dial Up Networking. Apparently what is happening is that your browser has no default connection or another default connection that doesn't exist.

Try this:
Open your browser, the little "e". Go to Tools/Options at the top (note: some of the older browsers used View/Options). Now click on the Connections tab at the top. You should see your dial up connections listed. Change the one that you are using to the default one. Now try closing it and reopening and see if it works. If it doesn't work there either, I would try to see if your start page exists or consider using the Tools/Options and setting up a new connection using your old settings and making this the default one.

It sounds like old problems with Windows 95 & IE 4.0. What browser and OS are you using?

Tried your suggestion but I couldn't get it to work. When I click it the browser opens with the screen that says unable to find site and a box pops up asking if I want to connect or work offline. When I click connect it won't connect. I'll just leave it alone unless someone else comes up with a possible solution. If I keep messing with it, I will end up not being able to connect at all knowing my luck.

I just talked to my mom and she said that her little "e" wasn't working either. HMMM!! Oh well, no big deal and life goes on. Thanks mairving

Here is what I would do:
(1.) Right click on the "e" on your taskbar and click delete.
(2.) Go to Start/Programs, you should have a shortcut to IE there. Right click on this "e", select create shortcut.
(3.) Put the cursor on the "e" that you just created and drag it over to the taskbar.
(4.) Click the "e" on the taskbar. If your ISP is the default one it should dial and connect.
