Hey dm,

I have recently swithed to psp from a free graphics editor i got with my scanner. (picture publisher by micrografx) and I think that it is a great program, especially for the price. It has layering, image slicing, masks and all of the common things that webdesigners need, as well as some cool looking wizards. It probably can fulfill all your designing needs. Of course there are other great produst too; Adobe Photoshop, of course, is the nest but is a whopping $609.00, it's alittle much for many of us. Theres macromedia's Fireworks, which i hear is great and millions of other products too.

How to tell which graphics need work... it really is for me, just an eye thing. Like i pride myself on my design eye, so i tweak it if it just doesn't look right. If somethings not right i can see and play with it til it's fixed. It's cool to ask friends or family too, to get another opinion. I hope that helps a little.
