I have heard from many people that they are not haveing the same ftp problems...so i guess i will just keep trying and see what happens.

I still do plan to revamp and change hosts with this site..but it willl be this summer.

Changing the content helps of course but you still have to resubmit to the engines and hope they update their DB's. Few engines have a seperate UPDATE form. You just have to submit the URL and hopefully their software will "notice" the content/tag changes and re-index your site.

Thanks for the reply toneatlas, i have emailed and we will see what happens.
My site is still up as well, but without access it is just dead in the water so to speak.
And yes, Justin, i don't like creating more garbage!
It wasn't like we got much traffic, but with the site redesign and upgrade i had hope to create a more 'sticky' site for those looking for that type of info.
If i can't ftp in, and put a page there for redirection, is there another way to go about it?
Jaiem, with the 'new' site i am also buying the domain name and going to pay for inexpensive web hosting (very small) ..
so will that change my odds at getting search engines to index the site?
Before it was listed as (for example):
http://members.xoom.com/......the site name..
this time it will be:
Site Name.com??

Getting an engine to update a listing isn't easy. Last year I worked with a client who bought a domain name and changed the content. But we just couldn't get the engines to update the name (URL) for the new content!

I know what you mean dragonsjaw, I hate leaving "Internet junk" around too. But ISPs usually close accounts if their inactive for a certain period of time.

I would definitely try to put up a redirection page on your Xoom account, so that you won't lose all the traffic you were getting from search engines.

Hello, I have a site with nbci from a long time ago when they were xoom, to my surprise I checked it out and its still up??!!?.

What kind of login error? what did the error message say?
If you trying to log in make sure user name and pass word is correct.
As far as the ftp address try ftp.nbci.com

You say they wont return your e.mails?
thats weird everything looks as if its running o.k

As far as the search engines go you will need to send them an update as to where your new site will be.
