Easy to setup. Check these instructions:

http://www15.brinkster.com/alvena/comcast1.html
http://www.cablemodeminfo.com/linbasics.x.html-ssi

One more thing, once you get @home working, go to http://www.mozilla.org & download their browser. The most current version is 0.8. It is much better than the default Netscape browser. You can even get a RedHat version (rpm) that will install for you.

Which ISP are you using?

Is it Dialup or Cable/DSL?
Cable/DSL are the easiest to setup.

What kind of modem do you have?

Some modems the so called winmodems rely on the processing power of your computer to work. Most will not work in Linux as of yet.

Might need a little more info from you.

What distro & version of Linux are you running?

Some start with a GUI (desktop looking thing). As a general rule, at the command line, you can start a window session by typing in "startx" (all lowercase). You can keep this window open and go to the command line by holding down CTRL-ALT-F1. You can return to X-windows by the CTRL-ALT-F7.

If you are planning on running a server on Linux, you will quickly learn that the shell (command line) is the place to be. I only use X-windows on this box to test pages I build in Netscape. It is pretty easy, once you have learned Linux commands to set up networking. You would first set up your Linux machine as a Samba server which gives you the ability to share files with your Windows machine. Then you will probably want to setup an Apache web server. One of the easier things to do in Linux.
