    <description> &lt;p&gt;You need to look at from the point-of-view of you being a Contractor. You might be responsible for creating/maintaining the site, but you don&#039;t own their business. Maybe hard to realize now but one day, they may decide to have someone else maintain or host their site. As it is their Web site (and their Domain Name) they should have the right to grab everything, go where they choose, and not have to ask anyone&#039;s permission.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Another aspect is that the Owner of the Domain Name, is also held legally responsible. Something your clients should be aware of.&lt;/p&gt;

    <description> &lt;p&gt;Here&#039;s what I do: I make them the administrative contact of the domain name, and make myself the technical contact. That way you have some access to the domain.&lt;/p&gt;
