Yeah, I am also having problems with NSI

1)I sold a domain recently and had to go through all their bureaucracy and the agony. Luckily the new owner who already paid me(USD 5,000.00) was very understanding and it was completed in 2 months.

2)Now I have another problem, one of my client wants me to re-do his web site and to take over the running of his web site from a previous company and this co. registered the domain name with NSI and made himself the ADMINSTRATIVE CONTACT without the client's knowledge and he now ignores my client and refuse to confirm the transfer of the domain name to another registrar of my choice. I have explained the situation to my client that there is no way I can effect the transfer without his approval and now it is kind of a legal case where my client is getting his lawyers to worked out this matter with the previous web designer company to come to a compromise.

Regards,
NSS

I don't know the details of the suites. Maybe it was just for a particular name?

When it comes to NSI nothing is un-usual. I've been trying to get a customer's domain transfered for over 3 weeks!

Yea, I've been told NSI has been sued over not releasing names.

But they won? Is something going to done? This is a travesty.

Not always. For example, if the domain is registered through Network Solutions, you 99% won't be able to register the domain name - even if it is expired. They simply aren't releasing the domains - fair or not. And if there's anyone who wants a certain expired name more, it's me!

You can purchase an expired domain name if it's available from any domain registrar.

Domains that InterNIC has deleted or removed from registration for various reasons. These domains will be available to the public for regular registration rates through any registrar.

At this time domains are released in an unpredictable pattern and the only way to check whether it's available is through the domain registrar or some compainies offering expired domain names listing for a fee.

See below link
