    <description> &lt;p&gt;NS requires &lt;em&gt;some&lt;/em&gt; content in table cells to render them. since you have a large number of cells in your table with no content in them, NS ignores them.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;To fix this you need to place something in those cells, the two most popular things being a non-breaking space and a transparent gif file.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Both have pros and cons- the non-breaking space can be affected by changing the font size in your browser and a transparent gif file can add to the page load time.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Sometimes it&#039;s necessary to use the trans gif to preserve the layout whether you wanted to do that or not. Such is life in web design today.  8^)&lt;/p&gt;
