The help files that come with Illustrator aren't too bad either.

Hi,

I have a bit of a problem getting books, I am English and live in Finland, all the books here are in Finnish which i dont understant very well, I have tried before to get technical books from amazon.com but the shipping is more expensive than the book !!!
Does anyone know of an online manual for Adobe Illustrator ??

Thanks again

Tony

Okay, this has got to do with how colour works in Illustrator. In Photoshop the two boxes at the bottom of the toolbar are the foreground and background colours. In illustrator those are the stroke and fill colours. Stroke is the box with the hole in the middle - it represents the outline of your shape or line. The fill colour is just that, the fill. Usually when you're trying to draw a line you want to set the fill colour to nothing and the stroke colour to whatever you want to use. To set the fill or stroke to nothing, bring the one you want to change to the front by clicking on it, then click the little slash button underneath the colour boxes.

Good luck with Illustrator! It is kind of difficult if you're used to bitmap-based programs (Photoshop etc.). I could probably answer any questions you might have. With this one it would probably help a lot if you had some sort of reference book (as Brian said).

I don't have a whole lot of experience with Adobe Illustrator, but it sounds like you're new with it so have you considered either buying a beginners book, looking for online tutorials, or possibly reading the manual that comes with it? I know I usually like to go and jump right in to a program when I get it, but for some programs it's better to read either the manual or some sort of literature on the program first.
