Adobe Image Ready can make the whole thing much easier. You just draw the picture of the table and then use the slice tool.

I make the side lines into colored cells. That way, the table will change its length if you add content (or if the viewer chooses different size fonts in the browser).

Unfortunately that's the onlu way I've found to do it too. You have to get the graphics just right too. A real pain in the a**.

you have a table with 9 squares, and put an image in the coners that's rounded.
