Yeah, I use photoshop also... But PSP would probably be the best way to go for you. I was just saying that I got a dreamweaver/fireworks combo via ebay and it was a lot cheaper than retail price, so that is one place I would recommend you check out.

I agree with everyone pretty much. PSP is the best available in that price range. It's not as good as Adobe Photoshop 6 ($600), but it's good for people who are just into creating graphics for web pages. I wouldn't consider Fireworks if I were you, 'cause it's not as good as PSP for the web. It's also vector graphics, which are different then what PSP and Photoshop create...

Often times you'll be able to get a lower price if you look for it on ebay... That's how I got dreamweaver/fireworks. Good luck!

I love Paint Shop Pro.

I've been making graphics for a little over a year and I find it to be a very nice program for its price.

Its layering is nice, good text and every update it catches up to photoshop

It's the other cheap graphics app, and quite worth the money. I still use PI4.2 for text as it does the best job of anti-aliasing smaller text (without looking so fuzzy).

If you are going for inexpensive but powerful, PI is excellent. I hear good things about PSP, too. You will outgrow them, however, so it's something to keep in mind. If you are going to stick with graphics, it would be better to get a better program first and stick with it. (Like Adobe PhotoShop or Corel PhotoPaint).

PSP is the closest in function to the others, but PI is a little more sensible for those who aren't into graphics. It's really a matter of what makes the most sense to you. I think trials for both are available, why not download them both and make your decision that way?
