Morning people,

Gee you guys must be more asleep than I am -- this is the other scripting languages forum, not the js one.

These are my recs; take them with a grain of salt & 2 aspirins:

for novices: SAM's Javascript in 24 hours -- begins with vars, ends with a shopping cart & game of solataire.

 for readers/programmers:
1) Danny Goodman's Javascript Bible -- heavily netscape-oriented, considered the book by many, at least when netscape was number 1.
2) O'Reilly's Javascript: the Definitive Guide by David Flanagan. -- ie-oriented, has a number of things in it the 'Bible' never mentions.
3) O'Reilly's dHTML: the Reference Guide by Danny Goodman -- as the title says, chock filled with tables, syntax, etc. Unfortunately, it really isn't a 'how-to'

Note: none of the above cover IE 5+; in other words, they are overdue a new edition, but they are probably waiting for NN6's release.

 Best online primer:
http:/htmlgoodies.earthweb.com -- Joe Burn's primer is still the best IMHO. It's amusing, well-written, and geared for novices. His non-primer scripts cover many of the things non-novices have trouble with: css, remote control, etc.

Vinny
