Thanks Brian I did not make the quetion too Clear but you have answered the it fine. I have note the all the above and I shall republish it soon. The beauty of Tripod and Frontpage was they are compatiable with each other I image with the Dreamweaver the files shall all have to sent up each on its own . But thats no problem it just takes a little longer. Also some said that when using Layers in Dreamweaver that Netscape may not show them ok .Take care and many thanks regards from Brendan.

Brendan, my condolences for the loss of your son. I'm very sorry.

I'm not sure I totally understand your question about links, but this might help:

When making a link, first layout the table and everything with just plain text. Then, when you're ready to add a link, highlight the text and enter the name of the file you'd like to link to in the "properties" box. Repeat this for all links you'd like to create.

I hope this helps!

Hi Brian many thanks for you reply and it shall save me a lot of grey matter now unlike frontpage it seems to preview asily. I have limited experience of web building but I did put together a site for our son Gary who died on 22May 99 aged 14years and it really needs a bit of work on it. I thought Dreamweaver using layers might help me to do that but first I must sort out Dreamweaver our site address forGary's site is http://brendan.somers.tripod.com if you wish to view it. Also Brian I wish to have the pages in a navagation type Table down the page I have had a bit of difficulty with making links to pages in so far when I use the pointer to a file it just creates the text in the middle of the page how do I make the link to display the text either in the table or under all the text. Take care Brian and many thanks for your help.

                         Brendan

If you mean that the first page you "preview" from dreamweaver displays correctly, and other pages you click on from that page display incorrectly, it is because your images are configured to display from the site root- it should look fine on the server itself.

When you do a preview with Dreamweaver, it only uses the page that is currently active, and if images on that page are linked using the site root ("/image.gif" rather than "image.gif") it will display them correctly. It does not render other pages, however, which is why they are not being displayed.

Hopefully this answers your question.

Brian
