Justin,

Re-read the original post. He asked if the reseller or the client would own the dedicated server. You are correct in saying that the host would actually own the dedicated server, but that isn't what was asked. Jaiem asked who would own it between the reseller and the client which would be the reseller, even though they really don't own it either - but to the client, the reseller does own it and the reseller has ultimate control over the server (opposed to the client).

That should also answer your misunderstanding with the virtual hosting account. I was answering Jaiem's question which I did do properly. He wasn't asking who owns the hosting account out of the reseller and the host, just the reseller and the client.

In all instances, the reseller owns the server or hosting account. That is to the point that they can own it. They really don't own it but they have authority to edit or modify the domain because the host sees the reseller as owning the account. The host does still have authority to terminate the domain if it is causing problems but again, that isn't what he was asking.

For the company that i work for the reseller only owns his pay check We own the servers and manage everything. The reseller is only respsonsible for send in clientel that is prequalified.

If someone becomes a wholeseller then they own everything including the headaches.

Really? I thought the company you're reselling from owns the server, and you're just like the frontman. Same with virtual accounts: doesn't the company you resell from make the decision whether the account is violating their TOS or privacy statement or something?

Jaiem,

The reseller would own the server. The reseller always owns the hosting account and has authority over what happens with it.

As far as the domain name goes, that is usually owned by the client, and not the reseller.
