Also, a few people I know have sucessfully registered a domain with DomainZero (www.domainzero.com), so it seems like they are for real...

infoDNS (http://www.infodns.com/) will take your registration online and hold the domain until they receive payment then send it through. You can pay using PayPal with them which allows for credit cards or you can take funds from your checking accounts directly all online.

The other benefit is they are only $25/yr.

I haven't received any email yet... and its been almost a week...

I'm sure you can delete them....
of if you don't want them on your regular account, just use a hotmail or a free account that you hardly use or just registered for that purpose...

I know others from the freewebspace.net board that have gotten emails..... and just deleted most of them - if not all of them. From what I heard, there's not link you have to click in order to say you read the email.

Luckily, you don't have to buy anything from the advertisers, "Just consider them" (as they say on their website).

rockergrrl, just a few questions. Do you receive much email from their advertisers? and is it actually necessary to read through and order a certain number of advertised products, or can you just delete the advertisments?

NO Banners
NO Ads
NO Frames
You can change your nameservers to whatever you want...

Its just like if you were to go to any other domain registrar...

Yeah I read that...
to me, right now, its better than nothing..

For me, personally, paying for the domain isn't an option. I recently had a baby in February and all my $$ that could be set a side for stuff like that, is going to the baby.

And especially since only one service - onestop.net - that accepts money orders (I don't have a working credit card) and isn't $70... And from what I heard the quality is debatable.

I'd be willing do do little stuff in order to get a free domain... I dunno... I registered a dumby domain and I'm going to see what its like before I register a good one.

Only time will tell..

I'm reading DomainZero right now, and it actually looks good. It's registered in your name, no banners, and the company is traded on the stock market. Let me tell you how they make money...
