I liked the old one better also. Why? Well...

1) The images in the top left corner are all cheesy looking. I can tell what type of effect you were going for, but you kinda failed. It makes the site look very amateurish.

2) I think the logo is actually better then the old one (if I remember correctly). Keep it!

3) The top bar on the old version gave the page an added dimension. It made it look more complete and full.

I'd say stick with the old one and make slight improvements on that one until it's perfect...

I think I liked the old one better. It looked more modern and original. The photos with the drop shadow look kind of cheesy (and the photo quality isn't all that great on some of them either.)
