    <description> &lt;p&gt;Thanks for your help everyone. Removing the  and  from the external file seems to have worked.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Seems very strange to me. All other styles worked except the default link colour.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Oh well, it works now. Thanks again!&lt;/p&gt;

    <description> &lt;p&gt;Try removing the  tags from your external stylesheet. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;You may have to place the external stylesheet in the actual directory with the page calling it, instead of just in the root directory.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;You might also try ending each style declaration with a semi-colon, some browsers are picky about that.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If I think of anything else I&#039;ll let you know...&lt;/p&gt;

    <description> &lt;p&gt;Well when I run into problems like this I usually find a way to work around them. In your case I would make the css properties into a text file and use SSI to include them. That would probably work. I understand that you are using SSI to call the top or something, but I wonder if you can use SSI inside of a called file?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Also try to put your  all on one line. This might help.&lt;/p&gt;
