Uhh man. This whole SPAM thing is turning into a ruckus. This turning in to a big hunk of he said she said... These forums are good, yes i made my mistakes, but i got over them. I think we should all get over the spamming, I think (thinkhost) said he was sorry, and miss understood. Chad has always been very helpful, I think (thinkhost) can/could be helpful also. I think the olny thing to be changed is somehting like this: (Do not say your site is the best or greatest, ect) (And limit signitures to 3 lines with a max of two urls) ( dont put prices for your services in the signature) I think this woulod add a little more to the forum, and amke it better. I dont post that much, but it took like an hour to read all of these spam posts and its getting sickining. And thats alot of posts. All the other forums about (thinkhost) were closed so this was the only one left.

a few pts:

1. it's best to make everything open (public). i think the troublemaker situation was handled well in a public manner.

2. thinkhost's above post ($$$) speaks for itself.

3. if this is indeed a community thinkhost should be kicked out, just my opinion!

Having dealt with spammers and trolls and flammers and misconstruers of the truth, benders of minds and wills (I was a counsellor in my past life, and spend a great deal of time online) allow me to make this one observation and suggestion:

trolls (spammers) respond to attention

Therefore, remove the attention. Delete these threads and all threads that apply to this conversation and debate. Add a line that spamming will result in deletion of registration. End of story. Log the IP and if trolls attempt to return, delete them again. Delete them until they find a new target.

Trust me, the less oxygen given to a fire the better.

Some of us do have free time Patrick I know I sleep about 4 hours a night... Anything more bothers me. I split up the other 20 hours about 70/30 business/personal so I do have the time to participate at TWF.

I think this topic is pretty much dead now anyway.

It is in my eyes unbelievable that two guys calling themselves hard working men do have the absolutely wasted time to post megabyte-discussions about such a s...!
I know Chad and why he does it, but can't see any reason to hang on with this topic. It's useless and no one wants to read it. Except people who need to spam to get at least one paying customer.

Seeing that ThinkHost won’t participate in our “community” I think we should move forward.

I personally think the less legal TWF gets the better. Right now I see “Please note that advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate on this BB.” Which in plan English says “no Spam.”

If you’re going to update anything update that line to something like this:

To keep a high standard of Internet communication no “spam” or unauthorized advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or solicitations will be permitted in this forum.

Hopefully this thread will be the end of this.

This was not a difficult situation. Here are the actions I would have taken:

1. Delete the unwanted post
2. Contact Thinkhost privately (Too bad ubb doesn't have private messages)

By making it public, you are naturally going to get baised views, because everyone likes being here, and pretty much everyone is going to side with Chad, because he isn't a jackass.

My policy is to ignore people like Thinkhost. Some people like to give other people stress, and the best way to deal with them is to ingore them until they go elsewere.

It's become quite clear that thinkhost doesn't have a clue that he's totally alienated EVERYONE that uses this site and that he's never going to get a dimes worth of business from any of us. Arguing this point any further is like trying to teach a pig to sing. It merely wastes your time and annoys the pig. Just let it go. People like thinkhost are desperate for attention and will only remain as long as they keep getting it. If we ignore him, he'll go away.

This place functioned just fine without a formally written TOS and can continue to do so if common sense is allowed to prevail. Instead of wasting valuable time arguing with spammers, just delete the spam. Instead of endless rhetoric trying to convince some lamer that he's being a jerk, just ban him. I don't think there's any reason to consider some knee-jerk reactions just because the dialog with one idiot got out of control. Everyone just take a deep breath, count to 10 and be thankful that you don't live in Milwaukee
