Yes,
some of the video editing is cool,
but my dads iMac is better at it.
And it cost less than my PC.

Actually, BeOS is great for a couple of things. It has a couple of video editing software suites.

It also has support for dual processors. Also its got alot of cool nifty show off things, which I like. I do not plan on using it until I get my computer, and not my laptop.

I think BeOS was a good idea when they started.

I use 2.x quite a lot and even developed some software.
But I think they hit the market to late.
And their attitude is a bit to "elite".
(Oh your S3 only works in B&W and your PS/2-Keyboard looks up ? Well, buy a new system.)

There are others out there.

I think if hurd takes off it will be the (small-)server system; While "clients" will die off in favour of "simple" clients (playstation/dreamcast/gnobbler)

just my p.

I think BeOS is pretty cool actually. Yes, linux is free if you download the buttload of stuff (like GBs, well not really)...

Hi,

I agree, I spent ages downloading Beos and was extremly disapointed. Most Linux versions are free to download or you can buy them cheap but that is just for manuals and stuff. I don't actually use Linux much but I have heared that FreeBSD and Corel are good.

I downloaded BeOS (http://www.beos.com) and I don't see what is so great about it! Everyone that I know said it was the best OS ever, and they also say that at download.com, I think 96% rated it high!

I see only one thing good about it....I ran 20-30 programs at once TRYING to freeze it - it didn't even come close.

It hardly supports any hardware.

Doesn't have a lot of software.

Looks ugly to say the least.

Anybody that knows of a good free OS, please let me know and post here. Is Linux free?
