Hey JP,
If you want to run perl on the Omnicron Server, you will need to download Perl for Windows (http://www.activestate.com/ActivePerl/

I would encourage you to install it to the default C:\perl. My friend tried putting it in another place on his HD and had a hard time getting the CGI to work on his page.

thanks I'll download this server sometime this month then.

Will it run the perl scripts I have on the site straight away or do I have to install something (like PERL )?

Hiya!

You don't need to be connected to the internet while using a web-server. All you have to do is install it, configure and run. Then type the url 'http://localhost' in your browser and there you go! really childeasy

And just in case you want to test CGIs on your new server, you can find the latest release of Perl at www.activestate.com.

Rob, all,

If I were to install the Omnicron server I would be doing so to avoid enormous (UK) phone bills.
Would not having an internet connection for most of the time be a problem while running this server?

Any one got any ideas as to other options?

Sorry Rob, I don't think I will be of any help to you... Did you get it figured out yet? I don't have much experience with MS Personal Server nor have I worked with NT (in any way) for a while...

I didn't get it figured out, but I did switch to OmnicronHTTPd (http://www.omnicron.ab.ca_

I had that server working (CGI and all) for a few days, but for some reason after a few days, I received 404 errors any time I accessed the site. So than I just gave up, told my friend to try the server on his computer.

Thanks for asking how I made out though!
