Well, I guess my main concern was with the setup of the navigation - I'm almost certain I won't be using their exact style (e.g., black background). And as far as it being to small, I'll be very sure to avoid that

And I can definitely agree with the fact that it may be too long - that will help in deciding what links I should and shouldn't have in the other subdomains.

I guess I was just curious as to what people thought about it. Do you like being able to jump to any subdomain? I found that setup rather useful...

Oh, and the subject of my site - yes I'm a tool, it's about a handful of excellent (extremely underrated in my opinion) games that all have the same complexity to them. I won't get in to too much detail, but like I said, there are only a handful, and I'm trying to bring them together under one roof, so to speak. Either way, I still think a similar navigation would be appropriate...

I guess it's hard to say without knowing what your site is about and exactly what you're going to put on the navigation menu. I think the problems with this IGN page are:

too long of a menu on the left side (too much scrolling)
it's too narrow - link title shouldn't spill onto two lines if at all possible.
black links - not a good idea, because people expect text to be black and links to be some other colour.

Maybe a change in the mouseover color on the left menubar? Right now, the color doesn't bring much attention. Maybe grey or something?
