I agree about the splash page in this case, but I don't think they're always a bad idea. For a site like this, a splash page could be really good if you had some funky animation or a really awesome graphic.

To be brutally honest, I would expect a site for film directors to be a lot more artsy and original - cutting edge, probably done with some Flash. This looks like it was designed about 4 years ago.

Looks better. I can rarely say this but it looks better in Netscape than it does in IE.

a) Find a way to make your navigation all fit above the fold. Scrolling that much doesn't work for me.
b) Loose the splash page. If splash pages were a good idea, more top sites would use them.
c) Like Justin said, cut down on the amount of text on the first page. Create sub-pages from the first page. A good way to scare away visitors is to inundate them with text. Dumb people like me like pretty pictures, which brings me to another point.
d) Use more graphics. Your site is so text heavy, it could use some graphics to help break to monotony.

You're getting there, don't give up!

I think the logo can be improved. Maybe a cartoon picture of a video camera or something?

I think your site have very interesting content.

1) You don't really need the "enter" page. It says exactly the same thing on the "main" page, and other then that's it just makes the user click more then they need to.

2) Make the logo the same color as the background of the page, or vice-versa.

3) Same for the red bar.

4) Cut down the text on the main page as much as possible. It looks like you've already done that by using the bullets, but if you can make it any shorter it would be even better. More people will read it that way.

5) The "site map" image doesn't go with the rest of the page at all! Looks like you took if from somewhere. Either make it red text (like the rest of the site), or make a cool graphic that goes with the rest of the site.

6) It was really hard for me to find the menu at first. So this is what you need to do: a) move it to the top of that table cell, b) make the link text bigger (the small descriptive text can stay the same), and c) move all the misc junk in that section below the menu.

Wow, you were a director/producer person for Party of Five? Pretty cool...
