Hi, I'm moving this to the Website Critique Area, but first let me give you my impression:

I think you did do a pretty good job with the site. However, there were some things that annoyed me:
1. Space at the bottom of the page
2. Edges are a little jagged
3. It seems like the logo should be a little more prominant. Either use something to make it stand out more, or move it closer to the top.
4. Rollover effects on the nav bar would be nice.

That's it... As it stands, you have a pretty good site. Fix those things, and you'll have a great site.

I have one thing about the layout: what is all the extra space on the bottom of the pages? You'd be better off without it, IMHO (oh, and on T1 the site loaded pretty slow)

I agree on content - start with the most popular ones - Fireworks and PSP. I believe (although not quite sure) that you can contact the manufacturer and request a free copy so you can review their software. I don't know it the same thing goes for writing tutorials.

When I first visited the site I thought it was sharp, but...

1) All the edges are jagged and blurry. This shouldn't occur in Photoshop.

2) Get as many graphic programs as you can. PSP, FireWorks, Freehand, Illustrator, Bryce 4, Cool3D, 3D Studio Max, etc... I mean, the site is called Graphic Universe eh?

Great. I appreciate the advice. I haven't checked, but I think PSP is rather inexpensive, so I might be able to pick that up so I can work out the tutorials using that program as well.

On the downloading with html and all.. I don't want to go there. That would create a super amount of work for me. As it is, I work on this site on my free time. I am slowely but surely putting up more tutorials. I suppose the next one I could put on can be on slicing up an image and putting it back together with html.

BTW, check out the GU Guides section to find out if you are interested.

First of all, I think you need to cover more graphics programs than photoshop. If people are using pre-made nav systems and buttons, they probably either don't have a complex graphics program or don't know how to use it very well. These people most likely don't have access to Photoshop. YOu should add an "adding text" tutorial for PSP and anything else that people might be using. You might want to reccommend a simple freebie graphics editor that will allow people to add text, and then show them how to use it.

Similarily, It would be better to offer your files for download as a collection of gif's (Navs already cut up and saved as gif's and an HTML page with the pieces already set up in a table or as an image map). Again, people who borrow graphics probably do it because they don't know how to make their own or don't have the software to do it.

With a title like "Graphics Universe", I would expect a wide variety of content. More complicated tutorials should come next. It would be nice to have a links section too. Think of the newbies who might be using your site!

The reason I posted on this board was that my site had to do with graphics, and I thought this was the most appropriate board. All I really need is for some people to check out my site and review the content. I figured there may be some pro-graphics advisors in here, and if so, what I can do to make my site better.
