Hi dyc - I really like your site so far! Excellent job.

Anyway, I have a few small complaints:

1. On the "find a store - local" does your search encompass the entire world? If it is restricted to a certain country you should definitely say so up front.

2. I don't like the grey text on the menu when you're on the sub-pages. Maybe white would look better, or the dark colour used on the mouseovers Also, "local stores" in the red header bar looks tacky in New Times Roman (default font)

3. On the shade card pages you might want to try to avoid using a full page graphic. A lot of people have really slow connections - this will take a long time to load for them.

SERVER DOWN?! *&^%@#*&%!

Hmm... the server wasn't really down, the uptime command tells me it's been up 8 days. My host's status page does say that they've been having network problems on their UUnet circuit, though - maybe that's what was wrong. I just tried myself and it works well, and I connect to them via UUnet as well I believe.

I've updated the page a little bit to make some of the suggested changes: the -- is gone, the border is changed, and it looks better

Peach colour: hmmm... what other colour could be used there? Another grey is a little too bland, and to fit with the colour scheme I would have to use something yellow/red...

Repetition on find a store: a mistake. The top-right is for the page title, the greyed-out find a store simply means that you're inside the top-level find a store section. The title on that page shouldn't have been "find a store" though... fixed it.

Hi Dyc, (is that a nickname or short for DiamondYarn Company?)

I liked the simplicity of the site. I would change the border on the yarn picture from the white to the dark maroon that you use for the text.

On the double -- on your links, I can see why you used them for spacing. I agree with Carolyn and JP about there use though. Try to find another way to achieve the same spacing.

The find a store section is good, it does say 'find a store' twive though, once faded once in big. You might want to drop one of these.

Not sure I like the light peach colour you use for some cells.

This site looks good because it is so simple
There are certainly no major flaws that I could see.

On the front page nav buttons I might only use one '-' instead of '--' but that's just petty

You DO need to work on your Meta Tags though, pay a visit to the Promotion forum for that...

Thanks for the suggestions! I will try something instead of the -- for the sub-links; maybe just a vertical line to the left of them.

Yeah, dyc is just short for diamond; I go under other names when I'm doing non-company stuff

META tags are certainly something which will be done once the site is open, but right now finishing the site is a higher priority of course - they're not too useful until you're ready to get your site indexed.

I will change the border to a dark brown (the text rollover colour), and move it from the JPEG into the gifs around it, that should help make it sharper.

Again, thanks for your help. Give me any other suggestions you have, please (anything about pages other than the main?).

Which graphic is this? I didn't try and blur anything; JPEGs do have a tendency to do that when compressed, though.

Hi there Dyc,
I really like your web site, makes the yarn look very appealing!! Very clean, nice simple yet dashing design. I really like your use of color.
but since you asked for some harshness, I'll try
the only things I would change are:
1. the "--"before the links and replace with a bullet or graphic
2. I'm not positive about this but the edge of the graphic looks a bit blurry, I'm thinking that it is an intended photoshop edge "effect" but it's so narrow that it looks like it's not "finished", I would make the edge either sharper or make the "fuzzy" part a little bit wider.
