Lloyd,
I had a look using IE5 and had a major wait for it to load. You'll lose a lot of visitors because of this. Some of the links took me nowhere and others loaded a new window, which took me away from the first navigation page. Once into your main pages, this first page became redundant - after all that waiting. Why not launch the grey button menu in a remote window to navigate (if the user wants) and load the main pages into the same window.
The graphic presentation is good.

I love the interface very much, but it loads quite slow on my location. Try reducing the filesize...
You can do the effect in Netscape too, try to visit http://www.dansteinman.com/dynduo/collapsemenu/collapsemenu2.html using Netscape 4 and above. I can't see why you can't get a simple javascript to work in Netscape. Which book did you read? I suppose that you have bought books which are written by people gearing towards IE 4.
Developing for a single browser is not the solution. Imagine that you can increase your current site traffic two times if your develop site for both IE and Netscape.
Just my 2 cents. Later

Thanks for your response.

As for the images I will reduce the file size. Right now they have been saved as Exact Colors through photoshop.

I do not intend to create a Netscape version of this site because I am completely fed up with their browsers. Every thing that I create, even simple JavaScript programs have trouble in Netscape. If someone out there does know how to imitate this script in Netscape, could you please post some script?

I have considered abandoning Netscape alltogether but realise this will cause too many problems. I encourage web surfers to switch to IE4 - as it makes web design much easier.

Lloyd,
I've done my sites in netscape composer (basic WYSIWYG program) everything works for me!!! and lots more java effects that haven't yet been published.
I'm thinking that since you want to get into the web design business you will be crippled by limiting yourself to one browser. Smart clients will want "their" sites to work in both regardless of what they use personally. Since the web design is such a competative business (go to yahoo and do a search you will see 1000's of designers) You would be much more competative if you can satisfy both browsers -- because chances are most of the other guys can .

Hi Lloyd,
I love the background, love the buttons. Don't much care for the fact that it is an ie only site, I'm hoping maybe your also making a netscape alternative? In my opinion, I'm more impressed with sites that may be less dynamic but equally browser friendly -- I have seen java scripts that do the same thing.
I got stuck on the links button and the menu wouldn't refresh using ie4?

take care,

I have created a dynamic interface that displays links to my site - it is similar to a site map. It will only work in IE4 and above.

http://www.vegas.com.au/~jasper/portfolio/websites/lloydweb_device/

I would like IE5 users to browse through it and see if your browser detects any problems. I use IE4 but down want to upgrade just yet. I have looked at one of my sites in IE5 and noticed subtle differences.

Another thing I would like to know is how the background image appears. Is it too dull to make out the writing? I have a poor monitor and you can barely see it.

Thankyou
