Truth is that site5 is a really good host, so is burst, and so are the other hosts loc'd in the VDI NOC. They all have helpful people trying their best.

Burst has to be busy (with a recent acquisition of 2000 or so hosting accounts), and site5 with a few server problems, and all of the hosts due to some problems in the NOC itself which has affected most if not all of the servers. You may want to check in 30/40 days before you eliminate these hosts from your considerations.

Thanks for the tips guys. I think i'll give these guys a miss - I still haven't gotten a response to some queries I emailed to them yesterday morning Not at all promising...

Most of the time its BurstNET. Its nothing to compare. All host's have downtime.

Yeah, I know they aren't related to BurstNET, but, as I said, they're in the same building. So most likely (in my opinion), when BurstNET is down, then Site5 will be down. And lately that's been pretty often.

Site5 is good. Very good so far.

Justin a couple of corrections. First off, they own multiple servers. Secondly, they are in the VDI Noc. Also they have no relationship with BurstNET. Actually they are in a different area of the VDI Noc than BurstNET. If BurstNET is down, chances are Site5 will be up or down. It depends. If every server in the VDI Noc is down, then Site5 and BurstNET will be down.

As for response times, its been ok. I haven't talked to Matt much. The Support area forums are closed, because of NetAdmin. Its gonna be really cool. Check out the site for that info. Again, Matt is one very smart person and can solve anything.

Thanks Justin, those last comments are very useful - so far i've only been able to find people who tell me the good points (as I did with futurequest! ) I will wait a bit to see how stable things are - I want to use vBulletin as my new discussion forum, so PHP is kinda important to me, as is the uptime of the site of course.

One question, how do you get to view their message boards ? I took a look, but you need a password - are they prepared to give this out to prospective customers ? I'll drop them a line and ask, but their sales@ contact seems very slow to respond.

Site5 has a dedicated server in the same building as BurstNET (not leasing it through them though). I forget the name. VTI or something. Anyway, they aren't resellers. I've heard their support is excellent, but after reading their message boards I've come to the conclusion that they have recently had some problems with downtime and PHP. But their support is excellent.
