Actually, there is a free domain name registrar: namezero.com . The catch is that they control the domain name, and there is an ad window... I really like TotalNIC = fast, easy, cheap.

As for a canadian host, I don't know of any off hand.

I've used Register.com, and they are excellent. If you are looking for an inexpensive solution, check out TotalNic.
