Do a traceroute on www.cihost.com and you will find they are on the axxs.net route.

Actually, I think CI Host is a seperate web company since they directly compete with each other. Their online manuals are both dreadfully bad and similar, but when I emailed CI Host and OLM they both said they were independent companies.

I host my site with OLM, but I find it hard to believe that they are as big as they claim. You hear almost no discussion or hype about them. I guess they are the silent underdog type. Don't get me worng: I've used them for 6 months and never had a problem. I run CPU intensive scripts, 6 CRON tasks, and I've downloaded the fastest I have ever had form anywhere at my site. (http://www.pbbt.com/ ) The server response time is periodically longer then desired, though.

WebAxxs is a subsidiary of OLM. As I understand, CIHost is a reseller of OLM.

I have been with WebAxxs for almost a year now and in my opinion it is a very professional and credible company with a good customer focus. I have no problems leaving my cc# to them. Initially I did sign up with OLM but when I found that WebAxxs had a slightly better plan for a lower price, I asked OLM to transfer the account plan to WebAxxs. No problem, they did it for free, the same day.

About uptime all I can say I am satisfied. The server has never been down (to my knowledge), but it has showed bad performance a couple of times each month. These periods of bad performance have lasted for a maximum of 1 hour. I think the performance is good. I have moved one website to iServer and so far I can see no difference in speed between the both.

OLM has a very strong CGI environment. Almost all perl modules are there. You have access to cron as well. You can have several top domains pointing to your IP, but there is no virtual sub-host functionality.

OLM is a budget hosting company. The price you have to pay for all bells and whistles is on the support side. The support is aimed for the more experienced webmaster that knows his Unix and CGI. The support is helpful and pretty knowledgeable, but they will not hold your hand. For me the support has been perfect and helpful, but it has happened they have ignored my emails.
