We have a dedicated server from raqspace.com. We like them immensely. They've been very good to us and help us whenever it is needed, including logging calls with Cobalt if we have any problems. We have not purchased a support contract with them, but they do help and we think it pays off (we're here singing their praises afterall!). You also get an account manager, so that you have someone that you can develop a relationship with.

I think it's wholly unacceptable for DN to just leave you high-and-dry. It's no way to run a company, and cetainly no way to run customer support. Sure, if you abuse their goodwill they may insist on a support contract, but to get you up and running I'd expect them to give you every assistance.

Best of luck with your RaQ2. We've had nothing but a good experience with ours and the UI is one thing that is very helpful with DNS maintenance and shouldn't be a trial for you.

You can take a look at the Linux DNS HOW-TO which is located at http://metalab.unc.edu/LDP/HOWTO/DNS-HOWTO.html, the cobalt raq2 server is running the linux operating system, so I'm pretty sure that you can benefit some from the document.

Most dedicated server hosts are that way. If you take a look at the top dedicated server providors, you will see that most offer a limited amount of tech support, if any at all... And once you go over that amount, they charge you on an hourly rate. Like I said above, when you purchase a dedicated server, you are expected to know how to do the basic configurations.

Dedicated server providors and hosting is two completely different services. The providors responsiblities are to physically maintain the hardware and its connections.

I can't vouche for their services but I am pretty sure that http://www.virtualis.com provides free tech support for dedicated servers...

I never though of that and seems I think this is not right. I wouldnt go there if I need a host. Forget it! I suggest Eutosh go somewhere else that has free support for the Dedicated Servers. This is just my opinion as well.

Thanks for you help ! i really appreiciate that TWF forum's members are really nice gonna refer my friends from UK to visit here if they need help. I've hired a outside system admin to do this for me as well as configure other stuffs.

Chad, i've visted Virtuallis, they do not offer free tech support to dedicated server if you decided to read further down. They will charge you US$/hr ....

Hi chad or anyone thats reading this post, do you have any dedicated server provider in your mind which give support for free ? Lastly i get cobalt beause they're all web base admin. Digitalnation did not SAY DNS configuration must be done in telnet. They listed in there that ALL ADMINISTRATION are done thru web interface..

i feel like i got cheated or something

Unfortunatly, what Eutosh paid for did not include customer support or service. He simply paid for the server and the physical maintenance of it. DigitalNation offers a sys-admin program, I believe. But, it does cost extra. Eutosh did not pay for this service (this is my understanding) so DigitalNation is not responsible for doing any configuraiton to his server. They assume that if you are purchasing a dedicated server, you have at least some knowledge of how to maintain and configure a server so they do not provide that free of charge.

Eutosh,

You have thge rights to demand for help becuase you paid for the service. It's not right to ingore you and take your money for no service you are getting. Losing clients is a bad for your company.

My suggestion to ask once again for assitance, if nothing happens, get your money back (ALL) of them since you paid for it then look for other provider that has true support and other features. I hope you will keep trying and get your NameServers solved.

I wish I can give you a free Dedicated Server so you would be happy but things ain't that free

But really, keep demand them for support and you have the rights.

I'm surprised they won't even set up something as essential as a DNS server for you.

Make sure they allowed to do this.
Read your terms and conditions thoroughly.
