It's the Swedish University Network(sunet.se) They already handle +300 Gb of bandwidth a day, so adding another 3 Gb wasn't such a big deal for them.

I would still recommend that you begin working on banner agreements/placements for your site. Then you will be able to make the move to a dedicated server when you begin bringing in the cash (or just save the money until you want to make that move).

I do not think you will find someone willing to host a site using 90 GB per month of transfer for only $60. I did the math, and although every host pays a different amount for their bandwidth, I figured out that for my company, that 90 GB of bandwidth would cost us over $200, and that's *just* the cost of bandwidth (that's what *we* pay our upstream - not what we would charge for that amount). So, obviously, it would not be worth hosting the site at only $60 per month.

I agree with Chase's advice - you definitely need a dedicated server, and you are probably going to spend about $500 a month for a dedicated server with that much bandwidth use.

Malu,

Time to put pride (and a little bit of design) aside and accept that fact that you have a choice. Either get sponsorship (and that is spelled BANNER(s)) for your website or it will likely die because of overgrowth. You would not be the first person whose site exploded faster than it's income stream ... but if you have the time before you would be kicked from your current webhost, START NOW. If you don't, you will see your pride and joy shut down with no alternatives.

I'm afraid a dedicated server is to expensive for me at the moment. I've also taken some pride in maintaining a banner free site. But I guess adding a banner or two wouldn't hurt. I used to get about 600 000 hits a month, but after the site was featured on several "big" sites and even TV, I now get well over a million hits a month. I have had several mirrors helping me out, but because of the high bandwidth demands they have been forced to close down recently.

How much can I afford? At the moment, no more than $60 a month.

Good morning Malu. I would recommend that you buy/rent/lease a dedicated server from a reliable hosting company. At 3 gigs a day, you pull around 90 gigs per month. I can recommend to places to you that will provide what you need.

For pulling around 90 gigs per month you should expect to pay around $400.00-$600.00 (that's including the server rental).
