I do apologize - Brian is correct. It is InterSpeed that has "unlimited" everything. From what I have heard, InterLand is a very good host and their prices are equally good. I apologize for the mistake on my part (and thank you Brian for catching it ).

I do agree, if you know STG, then I would go with him. If you can pay by month to month, what do you have to loose? I would try it out.

Maybe you are just getting lucky to find a cheap AND good host.

Does he have what you need? Make sure he does before you sign up.

I would actually sign up with STG.net if, as you say, you get the impression the owner is honest and hardworking. Design is an issue as it shows proffesionalism - but it is not everything.

I had recieved a ValueWeb brochure in the mail and I saw they had unlimited bandwidth so I decided to review on website and it says limited up to 5GB a month, seems a trick for me.

Hi Zee,

In my opinion, the design is some what important. I don't feel comfortable going with a company that doesn't have a nice clean looking site, unless I really know them personally. I would suggest digitalspace.net due to the fact they have a nicer looking web site. I don't know if they are any good or better than Stg. I make the design an issue, you might not though.

Just some thoughts.

Actually, ValueWeb is a high priced host... They have just done an excellent job at advertising which is why they have the clients they have... If you look at some of the up and coming hosts, you will realize that they offer much more for less than what ValueWeb is offering.

As for InterLand, I have heard mixed reviews about them. One thing, last time I checked, they offered unlimited everything which personally does not seem right.

And ProHosting - No comment, never even heard of them.

Just thought I would point out those couple of points.

I am one person that feels very strongly about hosts and the use of "unlimited" - I don't think they should! Although I have no doubt the service is good at stg.net or digitalspace, I would like to recommend that you get all the limits (yes, even with bandwidth) in writing before you sign-up for ANY account with ANY host!

maybe you could try thoses ISP are InterLand, ValueWeb, ProHosting or other host. They are cheap and you get more feature. If you want get online real fast, Interland and ValueWeb is one, they get you online in1 5 minutes, no expections!

Good points about both companies...but does paying more for hosting mean that the hosting will be better? Not that I disagree with any of you, but the owner of StG said that he only wants to help pay for his server connection. He sounds honest and he does offer a money back guarentee at anytime the user is unsatisfied. He also posts his phone number as well as an icq number. I have e-mailed him before and I have gotten a prompt response. Also, he does list many sites that he hosts and I am sure if they had any problems they would have switched by now.

email from a customer that i contacted:
Support is amazing, speed is ALWAYS fast, on a scale of 1-10 I
give stg an infinitely high number. Scott is nice, too -- I
didnt have all the money for 2 years, so he cut me a special
deal (pay 6 mo now and pay the rest of the money later). Trust me... this is the best host you will ever find.

As for digitalspace.net, they at least post the status of their servers and do list the number of sites they host. I don't think they would host 700+ sites if their hosting wasn't decent. You can check out www.dosgames.com or xrs.net to check out the speed...I have also e-mailed a customer and they have had no complaints besides the delay in getting his account setup... (digitalspace was setting up a new server at the time..)

I dunno, these are just my counterpoints... maybe I'm just gullible for a cheap webhost, but I just don't think that you have to pay more to get good hosting. I've seen a lotta companies that charge more still rip off customers... thanks for all of your opinions, I like to hear from many different view points..
