Sove very good points. I joined my host because though it looked to good to be true I had a good feeling about it. In the end it did prove to be, though not as good as promised, much better than many others out there. The proof, I have been with them over a year and now have three domains.

A Hosting must give a good range of features too. Support is important, but exclude some features as SSI directives is a hole in the service.

I believe the order a consumer should rate a web host should be:

- Support
- Value
- Features
- Price

Without support, you can't do much remotely. The service should be valueable (based on the market) and provide an array of features. Then price comes into play, if more than one host offers all of the above, the less expensive the better. But don't sacrifice price for any of the above.

However, if the service is offering UNLIMITED everything for $5.95 a month there's something wrong. In that case you'll have to base your decision on whats offered for what price, and what seems reasonable and what's just plain 'too good to be true'.

An educated consumer is a safe consumer and is a threat to those deceptive hosts that seem to be more abundant everyday.

I can name 6 or 7 hosts that I can honestly recommend, but I can name more than a dozen that I would strongly suggest avoiding. Spotting those hosts that are trustworthy, focus their efforts around the customer, and offer a valuable service is key.

I changed to my current web host due to my previous web host's (which I won't name) lack of support.

Even though it is a little more expensive, it is worth every penny of it since I know that if I have a question or a problem- it will be taken care of.
