&lt;p&gt;They&#039;re probably using a database, probably SQL 7 if they&#039;re using ASP. I&#039;m doing the same thing on one of the sites I&#039;m working on. I made a registration screen where the user fills in all their information like name, address, etc. I save all this information in a customer table in SQL and also write this info to a cookie so next time they come to the site I know who they are and use this id for all posting to the site (boards, orders, etc).&lt;/p&gt;
