&lt;p&gt;Be sure it is the first tag after the &amp;lt;HEAD&amp;gt; tag.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Also, you can try the &quot;expires&quot; tag, giving a date that has passed already:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;As for whether it will keep the stats from coming back is hard to say.
