My comment was originially on your personal site but as I continued to look at the rest of your sites, it was definitly meant as a globabl opinion. Your design abilities are top notch!

I have tried a ton of WYSIWYG editors way back when and I have worked with a lot of text editors too. I tried Arachnophilia a couple months back and it was just too bloated for me. I do like the colored text options like you pointed out, but after staring at the code for hours on ending, I see it in color without the programs help

I just don't see the point in wasting me system resources on something like 1st Page when I can get everything and then some that I need out of EditPad that doesn't use nearly the resources. If I had a need for all the features that 1st Page offered, I would have loved it in a heartbeat.

One of my favorite things about EditPad is the multiple projects in one instance - I love that! It sure beats NotePad and WordPad (what I was using since most of my files are too large for NotePad).

I am feeling so pampered now that I haven't left my computer all day! :0

I have used EditPad for years. I use the other programs here and there, but it has replaced NotePad on my system as well.
www.notetab.com is another good text editor. It is like 1stPage in that it has libraries of HTML and DHTML code, but it isn't free. There is a lite version, however. Works like EditPad but I find the interface a little more klugy. It will strip HTML tags, like 1st Page, which is sometimes a boon.

The nice thing about 1stPage is that like Arachnophilia ( http://www.arachnoid.com/arachnophilia/ ) it colours the text and tags so you have a harder time getting lost when programming. I think the next version (without the memory problems) will make it a much better option.

Thanks for the nice words, btw, Chad. Not sure which one you mean, so I will take it as a global compliment. *grin*

Jan is working on a new version of EditPad that will have unlimited (virtually) undo functions and things like that -- not sure when it is coming out though.

Yeah, DreamWeaver is a great program (I have used it many times). But, I don't need it. If you are in the market for a WYSIWYG editor, that would be my recommendation. I don't need a WYSIWYG editor though so I don't see a point in paying $200 when I can get something for free that does exactly what I want and than some.

After using EditPad all day, I am really beginning to like it!

DREAMWEAVER is an exellent html editor....
But it's not cheap....
comes for about 200$
You can usually find it on ftp although that is illegal and I do not suggest that you do that....

Well, after using both 1st Page 2000 and EditPad, I must say that I like edit pad. It still does what I want (an advanced editor that has line searches yet very simple text editor). 1st Page 2000 is a very nice package but right after opening, I found that I had to reboot because I hadn't in quite some time and it just wanted to much memory. This is a little of a drawback when I can go for EditPad which is also free - I don't need all the cool features that 1st Page offers because I will never use them - I do my coding and I don't rely on a program to do it for me.

EditPad it is - Thank you Suzanne for the recommendation. I am glad you made it or I probably would have been stuck with 1st Page which isn't quite what I want (yes, it has what I asked for but it is a little too much).

This is an excellent text editor. Very small, no bloat, much like 1st Page but no extras, just text. It is powerful, search and replace all open documents, tabbed format, et cetera, doesn't have memory hogging problems (which 1st page does if you use it extensively but they say that the next version has that fixed.)

It is free, sort of (it's postcardware, or send him a postcard of your town if you use the program).

I found another thread with the same subject and it had quite a few recommendations but the one that stuck out the most was 1st Page 2000. It is free and according to Robp, it has the line feature that I desperatly want Thanks Rob!

PS: Just thought I would post for those of you that might have a similar question.
