Actually as far back as NN 2.0 you could display Images as table backgorunds. IE took longer to allow this though.

Both browsers handle it diffrently though....if you use a background image or color for the entire table....in NN it will show up just fine with each cell distict, In IE however it won't show in earlier versions but will show as one solid background in later versions.

The key is that you have to specify the background image or color for each 'cell' then neither browser has a problem.

I'd also like to know whcih browser vsersion OS you are using.................it's NEVER been a problem.

And...ahem.......they are not 'nested backgrounds'....they are 'nested tables'

There is a major well known problem in Netscape. If you have nested tables in one of which there is a background and another table which is higher in the structure and has a background, too (so you basically have nested backgrounds), Netscape wont do what you want. If you only have a background on one level, you should be fine.
