    <description> &lt;p&gt;I was close to the answer ..... the right answer is to remove the focus from the clicked image by adding this inside the href tag&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;onclick=&quot;window.focus()&quot;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Netscape never showed the dotted outline, but IE always did.  To see the window.focus thing in action, use IE and visit again to&lt;br /&gt;
