&lt;p&gt;   I&#039;m not a frame man, but...&lt;br /&gt;
   What&#039;s wrong with onLoad? or simply putting the parent.bodyname.location.href = &#039;somepage.html&#039; either in the head tags or after the body tags -- outside of a function&lt;br /&gt;
   also, &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.htmlgoodies.com&quot; class=&quot;bb-url&quot;&gt;www.htmlgoodies.com&lt;/a&gt;  has a script that loads two or more frames at the same time. (e.g. you&#039;d load side and right at the same time from top)&lt;/p&gt;
