stealer,
I would suggest design for 640 x 480 because there's still lots of ppl out there who is using this pathetic screen resolution. If your target visitors are computer savvy people, you can try 800 x 600. For me I tend to use percentage in my table width, so it could easily fit any of the screen resolutions. Sites like altavista, excite, and cnet are using this method.
Later.

i do 600 wide (sometimes 625), which most if not every major search engine does. i don't like the scroll bar at the bottom either and i figure the big guys (search engines) know best and have done some research on it. that's how i validate sticking with 600.

good luck

Hi all,
I have a question for you about screen size. Do you design for 800 x 600 or 640 x 480? I really don't like the way most sites look using 640 x 480 which makes me want to code for 800 x 600, but I also really don't like those scroll bars at the bottom of the browser. What to do......?
Thanks Stephen
