i was looking for a way to have it automatically update...kind of like if you were to put the symbol in for ex. yahoo....you would get the updated value...except it would be on the web page ...all the time...updated when it reloaded..

You can achive that using SSI in your html page which call a CGI program which pulls out a updated text file.

my question (hopefully a little more clearer) is i have a banks web site...i want to somehow go get their ticker info (where?) and place it on the site. Then every day, the ticker would update.

...assuming we are using a very basic system here you could put the text file anywhere on your site and just manually edit it everyday.
