&lt;p&gt;It explains vector vs. raster very clearly.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Basically, you have it right.  Vector is the programming, so it resizes easily, raster is an actual pixel by pixel &quot;map&quot; of the image that is redrawn precisely and resizes very poorly.&lt;/p&gt;
