You cant get your animated gif to restart from frame #1. What you should do is use the single images instead of an animation. You can create a JavaScript script which can animate them for you. This way you can have total control over your animation.

Here is an example that I have created.

What browser are you using? I know in IE I tried it a few times, and all times it worked fine for me. However, in Netscape, the only picture I saw was the open door... I never saw it work in NS.

My guess is that somewhere when you were creating the image you added some sort of effect that is incompatable with netscape. I'm not sure just what that effect is yet, but I'll try to find out.

Well its not a gif problem. I do not want the animated gif to continously repest.. I want the door to open once per mouseover.. however after the first mouseover the gif is in the browser cache as viewed in the last frame...

i'd say, it's a problem of the animated-gif. somewhere in your software, creating that thing, you can select 'loop' or 'only 1, 2, 3, ...'
probably is this the reason. but an url would be nice...

Do you have a URL? That might help in determining the problem.
