Well, they seem to be working now. I ran defrag and scandisk. But still not sure what was affecting them. It was not my system RAM but may have been my video card. I’m getting a new desktop this week, so won’t worry about it.

I will aslo blame low memory for this problem as similar probs have plagued me on older PC's.

Does any one know of a problem where (on a PC) copying fonts out of FreeHand into ImageReady corrupts them into showing just those square characters...it has me confused and p****d off as I have to convert all text to paths.

I have had the same problem with all my graphics programs and rebooting usually solves the problem but I really have to watch how many applications I open at once if I want to keep my fonts. I have also found that the order in which I open my programs has some effect of the memory and if my fonts will load. If I open my graphics program first then open an editor, or browser, etc, my fonts are usually OK but if I open the graphics program last.....forget it....No fonts!!

I am wondering if there is a font managment program out there that will allow you to use fonts as needed instead of loading them all.

I have seen this happen when I have been using a number of memory hog programs, like anything in the Office Suite, and some graphics programs. Suddenly everything is blank. I find rebooting generally solves it.

It doesn't look like a text problem, it looks like a display problem (memory). But it could be -- have you deleted any fonts lately? Is your font folder over 500 fonts? (That causes no end of headache with some graphics programs)

Best of luck, hope it's resolved soon,

Have you tried reinstalling? That usually cures quite a few ills.
