Ulead Gif Animator has an optimizer built in.

As far as general image optimization I agree that Ulead Smart Saver is the best for the price!! I use it exlusively and have it set as a plug-in for all my graphics programs. I also like their new slice -n- dicer

I have to agree on Ulead SmartSaver. It’s defiantly the best image optimization and compression software for under $100. I actually like it better then Adobe ImageSaver, however I haven’t figured out how to optimize animations with SmartSaver yet (at this point I don’t think it’s possible), but ImageSaver does it nicely.

I have to support Ulead Smart Saver Pro 2.0 - though I haven't seen 3.0 yet. It is available for demo on Tucows - search for Ulead. Gif, JPG, PNG formats, image mapper, javascript, and slicer. I really can't say how usefull it has been for me. Initial design slicing is extremely easy.

Give it a shot.

If you want to do a lot of images, then http://www.ulead.com and get your own copy of Ulead Smartsaver - the very best I've found.

This site will allow you to take an original graphic and reduces numbers of colors, changes from JPG to GIF and whatever else to get the graphic to the smallest possible size without sacrificing quality.

What you need to do is experiment with the image quality (jpg) and color depth (gif) settings.

Save multiple copies of your image with different settings, then load your images into a browser and pick the best one which has an acceptable size & quality.
