Thanks for the info. Actually I am using two different FTP programs, one of which is WS_FTP (light, the free-ware version of it). Finally got around to getting on hypermart.net and made a simple test site to try uploading. Worked first time, no problems with either FTP program! Think Brian was right. My host has problems. Not surprising, especially after seeing all the other issues I've had with them. That's what I get for using the "lowest bid"! Bad part is I've got 2, 1-year, paid, site agreements with them so I'll weather the storm until next October. Then I'll be looking for a change. Now that I've found a site that works, the NetFusion FTP program is really easy to use. I might actually grow to like it if my host will accept the uploads.

Again, thanks for the help. At least now I know it isn't me who's all... (keep it clean, keep it clean...) messed up.

Sounds like this is a problem on your hosting provider's end.. Just to make sure, though, you may want to try connecting from a computer at another location if that is possible- but I have a feeling it is the hosting company itself and your best bet may be to find another one. Also you might want to try signing up for hypermart.net just to test uploading the same data and see if problems still happen. If it uploads ok at hypermart, the problem's definitely with your host. I hope this helped!
