Right.

Its not very smart to use a separate image to establish guides, because that way you loose the guides for later usage. In case you have a little change to make, and you still have the guides, you still know where you made the cut. That way you dont have to do the whole document over, because you can cut out only the image, you need.

Later,

1) duplicate master image
2) establish guides
3) select using rect select tool set to correct size
4) crop
5) delete unused layers and save with appropriate name

Now you have a layerd .psd master that you can go back to if you want to change it.

6) Squish it with ImageReady.

Yeah, I do that about 4 hrs a day. There is also an additional trick. Instead of flatten the image you can copy from all layers with Apple/CTRL + Shift + C.

I was looking for a plug in that automatically slices along the guides, so you dont have to to do the same stuff over and over again.

If you have a page 40 images with 10 or 20 mouseovers, then thats 60 times "select, copy from all layers, new image, export as Gif89a, filename." I dont find that particular interesting, so thats why I was interested in an automization.

Later,

Hi... I don't know of any plugin, but to slice images simply show the ruler, then click and hold somewhere in the ruler bar, and drag your mouse from there into the picture at the point you want to divide it. Repeat as many times as necessary. Then, make sure snap to guides is checked, and just make selections using the lines, then copying and pasting into a new document. Also, you will want to make sure you flatten the image before doing this.
